Make the Interior Eerier

I've been making things & cleaning my space, which as per yoosh got me thinking about interior design. Just last night I was describing my interior design final to my friend. The fictional apartment is L shaped with each room a different color; according to the rainbow. He tells me that's straight out of a Poe story called Masque of the Red Death. I hadn't realized that at all since I haven't read that one. But now I have a better understanding of why it was seen as lazy and not good enough... for an A.

Having my own apartment; a real one that's all mine, is amazing. Oh, the potential. For a year now I've been trying to decide what color(s) to spray paint my shelves and wood pieces.  There isn't a pink worthy of my dollar thus far, so it's been a matter of black or white for going on 6 months. I know this sounds daft, but I swear to you it only just occurred to me to make each piece black and white. Spirals , stripes, checkerboards, and vanishing point perspectives can't help but summon visions of some my favorite interior moviescapes.

It's quite a challenge finding pieces are spooky yet still easy on the eyes. Most seem to be garish, look like props, or are just entirely impractical. If you want Halloween kitsch

 you're in the wrong place, mister.

Of course I'm just going to use painters tape & spray paint for my stuff.

Spooky Series Trash Pack

 These trash packs actually came out last October & I never even saw them in stores (and I looked) but now the Target near me has a few. ~*oh yay*~ I'll take all the Halloween I can get thanx ^-*
The packaging is quite Halloweeny & the spesh editions are glow in the dark. J & I split the cost of one pack. I hope there are some still there when we go back.

 We always seem to choose our pack based on the trashies that show. I really wanted the monster & J is totes haps wif his robot. Sometime we'll have to get a pack with 2 we hate just to see how it goes.

We used old trash cans & closed our eyes to hide the trashies bundled in the big can. We each fish a can out of the bowl & pop em open at the same time. J's are on the left & my picks are on the right.

I think this is a defective trashy! It's hard. as. a. rock. And come to think of it as a kid I recall getting rubber GID dinos out of quarter machines & every once in awhile I'd get one that was hard plastic with a frosty glow...just like this berry ! I'd still get trashies if they were solid like this. Seems to make paint application cleaner, if this lil guy is any indication.

7/17/14 Update: Good Vibes & Fun Times

First Trash Pack Trade: Gross Ghosts w/ my New Roomie ^-*

 Got a few gross ghost trash packages on clearance at Target. This is the *first* trash pack trade with my new roomie, J.

We opened the packages and without looking put the loose trashies from the big can into ghost bins I already had. We'll each grab a can from the pile & open em at the same time.

 J got the pick of the litter the second time around. Tho, mine looks edible, theehee. Orange, green, yellow Rankenstein~Halloweeny purfexun~way to gew J

 Trash Rat was my visible pick in the package. He's helping me select my cans~glob, i luv my trash rattie

 noice one, Rattie~!~a glowy eyed one in fab colorway*!* (why am I missing J's this round???)

 Eew, I hate this thing!! Not just cuz it's yellow either. yuck_ lol, oh well. Check J's Stenchfries tho; they bomb. The teal color is srsly yumm in person.

 Geez, idkY (i don't know why) But I do adore this drooling drumstick & chicken for chicken is premuch (pretty much) purf.

Yes, I'm trading monsters for corn~!~am I mad?! Maybeee, but GMO corn~!~army of CORN {mwah~ha~ha}

That was fraggin fab, yo*!* Ya know, there were $9 & $13 Monster High dolls I wanted (namely Twila & freshwater Lagoona) but this purchase is loads more fun. Trash loads, lol. Really happy I decided against dolls this time. Do you know???? I was once given the title, Trash Queen. If you like trashies totally check out Aaah, Real Monsters!! & Rocko's Modern Life (a 90's Nickelodeon cartoonage ) The sculpts and ideas seem to draw inspiration there.

This company is so with it. Concept, design, quality, and fun factor of this line of (what are essentially pencil toppers) are thru the roof. They even rolled out egg shaped bins with a prehistoric & rock series of trashies just in time for Easter. I know what I want teh creepster bunny to leave for me this year...

My mind just flies thinking about the trash pack goodies that our future may hold. (lyk ROBOT parts)
