☠ Thriftday with no Thriftstores ☠

We set out at 3 & got home by 7. Costume stuff was pricey, so I don't think we culd have got much (not that I need much) from thrifstores, but it *was* strange to drive right by them, lol.

Sunday Adventure Time

So, I wasn't feelin tops. My mood was great, but my energy was low. And I totes forgot thrift stores are closed Sundays. We woke up and left the house right away. I'd picked out my clothes the night before.

We went to Kohl's cuz it was right next to a closed shop & using a coupon I got in my email during a super SUPER sale we saved over 100 bux.

We hit a dollar store for drinks for Sean & picked up some solid color shoe laces as well. I'm such lace whore--der.

As it turns out Goodwill was open Sunday despite what their website said. We went to the filthiest one we know of. But our positive energies combined we had a great time & scored with some great finds. A second chance given was well-rewarded. The place was still messy, gross, and dimly lit, but it didn't smell like vomit this time*!*

Last on our list we went to a TRU farrr away to see what all they had. Cuz it's like the dumping ground for warehouse clean-outs. They actually had Regular Show  6 inch figures, so Seanie is in heavs ya know. I got a doll of Sam from iCarly, from the special they had where she and Carly wear all purple & hav lavender hair. It was 2 bux, dude.

I was like balling up in pain thru TRU or there'd have been a P0P-Up shoot. But I'll tell ya bout that later, cuz we are deffy goin back.

Please enjoy these magical photos I took on my lovely day.

Perfekt Mer Princess Purpink Hair

This is pretty epic. As some of you may recall I had an intention to have pastel purple hair [checks facebook] Omglob, FB only goes back to 2007, so it was before then. Must have just been early-er in 2007. My lyme brain was so bork that I added Special FX wildflower to my unbleached brown hair & the result was bad. It was like purple-ish poop. Plus worse, cuz I had 2 inches of hair then. That means one bottle of undiluted dye covered all of my hair with that light purply sheen of poop brown easily with half a bottle still left.

Anyway, getting hair light enough to be lavender has been no easay task. Red family (pink, orange) hair dyes go over hair bleached to that ez to get to, piss yellow shade, but not your blues(green, purple) so I've settled on teal, settled on pink, settled on lime green, actualay loved the lighter teal/almost seafoam I had when I had last Thanksgiving. But all I've wanted for yeeeaarrs now is lavender hair( way b4 errybody else was into pastel hair) since in 2005 I got the napalm orange hair I'd wanted since my first 2 years of high school[98](cuz I got a supes long hair mermaid barbie Midge doll-fuck yeah I still bought Barbies in high school~i do me!~and that color  against my then flawless porcelain complexion was abso to DIE for) Having pastel purple hair has just become this mountain to climb; one I felt plenty of times like I was never gonna get to the top of, even tho I quite enjoyd the rainbow climb.

Obvi, since I got chem burns at the salon I did all the bleaching & toning here at home with tons of assist from Sean.

This is the color I'm aiming for. Not surprisingly, lol, a little mermaid item I thrifted and repurposed as my toothbrush holder.

~*♥*~
I get my supplies at SallyBeauty. Becuz I dilute with conditioner one container of each color is all I need for months of color.

This condition-dye may not look like it'd produce lavender/pink results, but it did.

~*♥*~
The dye on my hand reveals how pinky lavender it's gonna be. I added N'Rage bubblegum pink to Ion Purple, then I ran out & used way too old atomic pink that's base jus red at this point. The right &front side of my head is the N'rage pink & Ion purple.

~*♥*~
I mashed dye into my hair with a stiff medium paint brush & I can tell this needs more dye applied cuz white strands are peek-a-boo_ing thru. This is my previously manic panic ultra violet+Ion purple dyed hair next to a piece with my new brew. Preetay faydead huh?

~*♥*~
All of my hair is covered in dye now & it looks very purple right now. Not lavender, but thankfully (cuz we omitted manic panic from the equay) not grey blue or electric blue either.

~*♥*~
Here it is all rinsed out. Tons lighter & no stain in my tub at all. For some reason this lovely image was the only time the canon captured the color accurately...in 50+ tries, so yeah.
~*♥*~
Here it is 3(mayhep) washes later. See how important the addition of pink dye is to the purpink concoction?! W/out it my whole head would be as silver/lav/white as that peek-a_boo bit on the left(ur right) The Ion just does not have great staying power in my hair. Keep in mind my hair is naturally curly so already porous and further processing makes it even more porous. Porosity is a double edged sword when it comes to hair: it'll make hair hold a lot of dye, a lot of water BUT it will also make it harder to keep product, like dye, in there. Not sure why it is that Ion mixed with N'Rage has awesome staying power, but I'm happZ it does*!*

Kewtorial : Delish Ring Display

In this kewtorial I'll show you how to make a fabulous display for your rings. I got this idea cuz I kept taking my rings off & putting them on the larger paintbrushes drying in cups all around my sink. Eventually one of my useless waffle cone cups filled with Hello Kitty pens wandered to the sink & I kinda thoughtlessly stuck my smoothie straw from breakfast into it and °*°P0P°*° I got this idear & tweeted it to myself right away so I wouldn't forget.
~♥-♥~

All you need is:
*One Fun Cup*
I got these cups that look like waffle cones yeears ago and they were totes cheap. If you put ice cream in them (and I did) the plastic just breaks, so they've been pretty useless up til now. The only places I go regularly are craft stores like Hobby Lobby & Michaels & Target and Wal Mart; I'm sure you can find some. If not, then there's tons o cute cups fur super cheap jus perf for deco-ing.
~♥~

*Straws*
At K Mart I found these large ones that look like the ones that come with bubble tea. You can also re-use bubble tea straws if you happen to drink it..or Unforked has clear striped ones, but I'm purty shore ours is the only unforked anywhere.

*Frosting*
I gave this Whipple stuff a try. I had to tape my own cake tip onto it since I only got a refill. Get a whiff of whipple and your eyes will water! It smells so toxic;D I'm sure all the foreign language on the frosting bag is warning you not to eat it. I have no idea what it is, but it smells toxic as fugg! ^-* trust me-you won't want to eat it. It works well enough-dries fully & is firm in 2 days. I have no deco skills and I let a bunch of whipple dry in my tip, then chipped it out so I could use this for this project days after I first opened it. Plus doin anything like this my hands shake a lot, so keep that in mind....whipple whill look better in the hands of almost anyone else. If you don't have whipple there's plenty of info out there for making deco frosting, so ask google.

~♥~

*Hot Glue*
This hot glue mat is my best frind~!~not sure where I got it, but all the cooled glue comes right off and I can just toss the gun down and place the stuff I need glued without havin to worry about setting it upright (which is maybe not such a chore to normal peeples, but is to me)

~♥~
Decide how you want your display to look. Since this is a display you'll want to position your straws next to each other toward the back of your cup. My cup deffy has a front, cuz the cone shape overlaps and it's way lower at that point. If they're makin like a triangle shape when you draw imaginary lines bettwixt them when viewed from above then your display won't really have a display side and non-display side and is more likely to stick out obnoxiously from your shelf. If  you like it that way, then fine: you've been warned.

Here you can see how I've glued my straws with the left one in the very bottom and the other 2 kind of moved up a lil & fanned out from that first one. I applied hot glue to each straw then set it where I wanted it in my cup one at a time. As you can see the straws are touching in the bottom of the cup & well spaced at the top.

~♥~

The straws are kinda thin, so don't poke the hot glue onto them...just squeeze out a nice dollop onto the straw and press into place on your cup. I positioned my hot glue at about the halfway mark of my cup.

Add some cute beads or little toys for xxkewtxx factor of your display. It *is* optional, but this way even when you're wearing most of your rings you'll still have a totes adorbz display piece. I threw this one togevs in 10 minutes with stuff I had handy, but I've got more cups & will better execute my kewt-a-DIY-in' in da future.
~♥~
The last thing I did was frost the rim of my cup. I don't even mind that it looks messy; I think it looks more like real whipped topping on a cold ice creamy treat`kinda melty & swirled around.
~♥~

Let the the whipple frosting dry for a couple of days, then stack your rings on the straws*&*enjoy*!*
